Nicotine Gum Addiction
Answer: This is a tough issue to come to grips with. On the one hand, chewing a couple of pieces of nicotine gum everyday is infinitely better than smoking. Cigarette smoke contains over 4,000 chemical compounds; 200 of which are known to be poisonous, and upwards of 60 have been identified as carcinogens.
We also know that inhaling secondhand smoke is hazardous, and for a smoker it’s a double whammy because he breathes in both mainstream and sidestream smoke. And research continues — we don’t yet fully understand all of the dangers that cigarette smoke presents.
However, while cigarette smoke is worse than nicotine alone, nicotine is not a harmless drug. There is growing concern that long-term use of nicotine may contribute to cancer. It also affects how our bodies function — nicotine puts stress on the heart and increases blood pressure.
Hypnotherapy Can Help You Overcome IBS!
An astonishing number of people are now diagnosed as having Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and many more realise they suffer from IBS through self-diagnosis. It is the most common condition seen by gastroenterologists and some estimates suggest that as many as one in five adults in the UK have IBS at any one time.
What are the symptoms of IBS?
IBS is a mixture of abdominal symptoms for which there is no apparent cause. Symptoms include constipation, diarrhoea, bloating and abdominal pain. Other symptoms include headaches; passing urine more often; fatigue and tiredness; sleep disturbance; loss of appetite; nausea; feeling depressed; and (in women) left-sided abdominal pain during sex. More severe symptoms can include indigestion-type pain that wakes you up at night; abdominal bloating and bleeding from the back passage.
Smoking and Cancer
An estimated 146,000 Americans died of lung cancer in 1992, and 90 percent of these deaths were caused by cigarette smoking. Smoking is responsible for about 30 percent of all cancer deaths annually in the United States more than 155,000 each year. If smoking-related cancers could be eliminated from our society, we would see a significant decline in the annual cancer death rate instead of small but steady increases.
Since 1964, the year of the Surgeon General’s first report on the health risks of cigarette smoking, strong evidence of the association between smoking and cancer has accumulated. Countless studies have proved that smoking causes lung cancer, and we now know that it substantially increases a person’s risk of developing cancer of the larynx, pharynx, oral cavity, esophagus, bladder, kidney, and pancreas. Additional studies suggest a strong association between smoking and cancer of the cervix.
Weight Loss Hypnosis Seminars at Local Hotels
A newspaper ad caught the eyes of some our viewers and they brought it to our attention. It offers hypnotism seminars to help you lose weight.
“Lose weight with hypnosis, 100% written guarantee.” The ad says hypnosis seminars are being offered at local hotels.
Ron Gorayeb, with Gorayeb Seminars, says they’ve been helping people lose weight through hypnosis for 15 years. Gorayeb says the sessions include information on nutrition and behavior changes, followed by hypnosis sessions to help you discontinue unhealthy eating.
Sexual Slavery and Tobacco Compared in New Anti-Smoking Ad
An anti-smoking campaign that some claimed likened the consumption of tobacco with sexual submission is causing an uproar in France.
The three ads show teenagers on their knees with cigarettes between their lips, their faces at a man’s waist, looking submissively into his eyes. The advertising slogan says, “Smoking means being a slave to tobacco.”
“We noticed that the traditional anti-smoking campaigns no longer got across amongst the youth. We thus had to use another way in order to raise awareness,” Remi Parola, head of the Non-Smokers’ Rights Association that is behind the campaign, told ABC News.

New Smoking Cessation Therapy Proves Promising News and Views
A novel technology for delivering nicotine to the lungs may soon give smokers a new way to kick the habit.
When compared to the nicotine vapor delivery system used in the Nicotrol/Nicorette inhaler, the new technology proved more effective at delivering nicotine to the blood stream. As a result, it provides immediate relief of withdrawal symptoms, according to Duke University Medical Center researchers. Users also reported the new nicotine delivery method was more tolerable than the current inhaler because it caused less throat irritation.
“We wanted to replicate the experience of smoking without incurring the dangers associated with cigarettes, and we wanted to do so more effectively than the nicotine replacement therapies currently on the market,” said Jed Rose, Ph.D., director of the Duke Center for Nicotine and Smoking Cessation Research where the technology is being developed. He presented the data today at the Society for Nicotine and Tobacco Research (SRNT) in Baltimore, MD.
