I (CDH) suffered from depression for well over 20 years. I had several episodes of major depression. There was a long period of time in when I simply didn’t care if I lived or died. And, there were a couple of times where I almost did die thanks to the help of various ‘recreational’ substances. Funny how depression can make you not care how much you might hurt those who love you.

When a person is stuck deep in the quicksand of earth-crushing depression, it really is impossible to conceive of life without being depressed. People who have not been depressed really don’t know how ridiculous it is to say to a depressed person: “Just cheer up. You’ve got so much to be thankful for. You live in a great country, etc….”

I am not denying the validity of the above statement that a person does have a lot to be thankful for. I am simply pointing out to those who don’t know, that it is futile to speak in a ‘normal’ language to a depressed person.

This website is dedicated to those people who can’t even begin to imagine not feeling the everyday, oppressive, overwhelming, grayness of depression.

My message to you is there is a way to a better life.

There is a different world waiting for you.
