How to Write a Great Self
Self-Hypnosis Tutorial: How to Write a Great Script
Learn how to use powerful, exciting language to stir your imagination and influence your subconscious mind.
Always use present tense—It is always important to frame suggestions in present tense. If you were to say, “I am going to finish my website,” you would be putting off finishing your website to some unknown time in the future. A much more effective self-suggestion is, “I am the successful completion of my website.”
Always be positive—Always frame suggestions using positive suggestions that promote the desired change or desired creation rather than suggestions that remind the subconscious of the old belief system you are trying to change. “I am a powerful magnet of abundance” is much more positive than “I am no longer going to remain in poverty consciousness.”
Learn to be specific—Focus on the desire you have chosen to manifest. Don’t get carried away and ask for other, unrelated desires in your script. Focus your suggestions on the specific desire you have chosen to manifest and statements that support your desire.
Use clear, simple language—Always talk to your subconscious mind as you would to a bright child. It is always best to use simple, straightforward language that is clear and easily understood.
Use short and medium length sentences—Shorter sentences are generally more clear and easier to understand and carry more impact. The longer the sentence, the more difficult and confusing the meaning of the sentence can become. Ever read one of those old philosophy texts where a sentence can run on for half a page or longer. While you should avoid long sentences, you should vary the length of your sentences between short and medium. If you used only short sentences of the same length, your script might have a redundant, sing-song quality that would be boring and would likely put you to sleep.
Always use words that excite the imagination—In writing your scripts, you should always use exciting, powerful words that stir your imagination and touch your heart strings. Remember, the subconscious mind is where your imagination resides and is the home of the heart. Use adjectives like wonderful; amazing; beautiful; fantastic; great; powerful; etc. And when you say or think these words, feel them throughout your entire being, in every cell and atom of your being. Feelings send powerful messages to your subconscious.
Be realistic—If your conscious mind does not believe the suggestions you give to your subconscious mind, it will be difficult for you to succeed. If you hold beliefs in your mind that conflict with your suggestions, once again, you are not likely to be successful. Letting go of beliefs that are opposed to your desired intention is intrinsic to having success. It is also important to have a clear understanding of your level of faith in relationship to your desires. A good self-hypnosis script should help you build your faith in your ability to realize your dreams.
Always use visualizations in your scripts—Because the subconscious mind responds best to images and symbols, somewhere in your script, you should visualize yourself experiencing the manifested outcome of your specific desire. You should feel your visualizations as if they are real and your goal is already accomplished. Feel the thrill (within your mind, body, and spirit) that goes hand in hand with having successfully created your desire.
Use suggestive action—“I sing beautifully” is preferable to “I have the talent to sing beautifully.”
Repeat your desired intention—Each time you repeat a desire, your subconscious mind hears it, and the more often you repeat the desire, the more likely your subconscious mind is to act upon it—especially when you repeat your desire confidently and with positive energy. This is an important key. Your subconscious will recognize the energy you put forth when you state your desire and it will respond accordingly. So be confident and know that your success is guaranteed. You should also restate your desire in different ways throughout your script and remember to use exciting, powerful language.
Language–Language can have an amazing impact on our creative power. The two most powerfully creative words in any language are “I am.” “I am” is a powerful declaration of who you are choosing to be in the moment that you declare “I am.” If you casually remark to yourself, “I am sick and tired of this job” and repeat that remark over and over, you can create the experience of being “sick and tired” in relationship to your job.
Powerful declarative words and phrases—I; I am; I choose; I can; I decree; I declare; I will: etc.
Weak words and phrases—I will try; I can’t; I don’t know; I might; I hope; I wish; I want; I would/could/should; I need to; I have to; etc.
Connotative language—Connotative language are words and phrases that carry with them, in addition to their meaning, an emotional impact. The words and phrases you want to use in your script will have powerful, positive emotional impact. Use words that excite and motivate you.
