Hypnosis Music
Hypnosis Music My name is Charles Vald.
I am hypnotherapist and also a composer of unique relaxing music CDs.
Audio demonstrations can be found on the links below. All my CDs include free delivery anywhere in the world.
My most popular hypnosis music CD is called the Beauty of Life
It combines the sounds of nature with that of warm ambient pad (relaxing sythetic sounds).
Another favourite is the Breath of Time 2 This helps synchronise both the heartbeat and the breath, by the use of chimes to breathe in and out. This can actually be used as part of a hypnosis induction.

The use of Music in Hypnosis Induction and its Origins.
The origins of using music in hypnosis are not easy to find, but there are a few hints. Before the general use of the record player in the 20th century, the hypnotherapist was limited to visual induction methods or the use of the humble metronome.
The metronome is still in use today by some practitioners for inductions. It is a repetitive slow monotonous stimulus that focuses the conscious mind allowing the hypnotherapist to communicate directly to the subconscious. It has been known for a long time that our heartbeat synchronises with the tempo of the music we are listening to, e.g. if you are listening to dance music with a tempo of 140 beats per minute then your heart will speed up towards this rate.
If you listen to music that is at 60 beats per minute, then your heart rate will slow down to this rate.It wasn’t a big step to go from the metronome to relaxing music on a record player and it wasn’t difficult for therapists to find the music to use for it had been composed hundreds of years before and is still a favourite of hypnotherapists today. It is of course baroque music. The most famous composers of this style of music being Vivaldi, Bach, and Handel.
Hypnosis music in the last few decades has evolved and now takes many forms. A lot of the hypnosis music on the market has been titled as such, even though the composer has not put much thought into what is needed. There is no right or wrong but I feel the following guidelines might be of use when deciding on music that is effective for hypnosis.
1. Slow temp around 60 beats per minute to help slow down the heart beat to relax the patient.
2. Neutral in emotional. The music must not evoke any emotions unless specific for the treatment.
3. Soothing, healing warm instruments, examples of this are the cello, oboe, gentle piano, sounds of the sea, warm synthesised pads, etc.
4. Avoid sounds too high pitched. They can be uncomfortable to listen to.
5. The track length should be long. Different tracks means different styles of music which might increase the patient’s awareness of the music.
