Seth-Deborah Roth has been in the medical profession since 1969 when she became a registered nurse, working in oncology nursing. Soon after, she completed a years training, at a major New York teaching hospital, in a 12 suite operating room . She then worked in the operating room of a 500 bed orthopedic hospital in New York City. In 1973, she entered a Nurse Anesthetist training program at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. Kings County Hospital had 3,500 beds at that time. Seth-Deborah finished her training in 1975 doing over 3,000 cases before graduating. During her training in anesthesia is when she first witnessed the use of hypnosis for surgery. She is married to a physician who totally supports her in realizing how much the mind and body are connected.
